Meetings are held once a month on Thursdays 11 am til 1 pm
Do come along for a cup of tea or coffee, home made cakes and a chat in our lovely purple room.
We are a local support group, set up to create a friendly, relaxed meeting place where we can enjoy getting to know each other via a variety of social activities and events. In addition to our monthly meetings, we have ad-hoc meetings for meals, and social contact, etc. Our programme is driven by our members’ needs and preferences.
We are supported and encouraged by Macmillan Cancer Support, and our ties to them can be useful in gaining information about current treatments, support services available, and so on.
Our members have the opportunity to attend some of their courses, and we obtain ongoing help and information from them.
Cancer can be a lonely experience, at times, even with the most supportive of family and friends, and many people find it an awkward thing to talk about.
It can seem as if you are alone, or the only one in a crowd who feels like this. There is something special about being amongst others who know exactly what it is like for the best of reasons; they have been there, or are still there.
Oddly, perhaps, this means we don’t actually spend too much time talking about it; we don’t have to: we know. We can just carry on supporting each other by being there.
We meet at the Yeleni Therapy & Support Centre, at No 2, Blackfriars Street, Hereford, HR4 9HS on the third Thursday of each month, for a social meeting, and talks on items of interest, usually by guest speakers.
These talks cover a whole variety of topics aimed at having fun whilst learning self help techniques.
Yeleni is well placed for parking, being adjacent to both the Old Market carparks, and the Multistorey .
There is disabled parking on site, and help may be available for members with travel difficulties upon request.
Our contacts with Yeleni are especially useful as they offer anyone with cancer a free programme of complementary therapies and on going support via classes and workshops.
