Counselling
Counselling is a talking therapy that involves a trained therapist listening to you and helping you to find ways to deal with emotional issues. Sometimes the term “counselling” is used to refer to talking therapies in general, but counselling is also a type of therapy in its own right.
counselling can help you to cope with:-
- A mental health condition – such as depression, anxiety, fears/phobia’s.
- An upsetting physical health condition – such as infertility, long term illnesses.
- A difficult life event – such as bereavement, relationship breakdowns or work-related issues.
- Difficult emotions – such as low self-esteem, poor confidence or anger.
- Issues such as sexual identity. Supporting those (&/or their family) experiencing issues of gender dysphoria. To help provide a neutral stance alongside you, to help you gain a greater sense of ownership and belonging.
What to expect from counselling
At your appointment you’ll be encouraged to talk about your feelings with the therapist in a safe & contained way – sometimes with feelings that may have been supressed over some time. She will listen and support without judging or criticising. The therapist will help you to gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes, to help you find your ‘own’ solutions to problems – whilst not giving you direct advice or telling you what to do.
50 minute session £45
