General Healthy Lifestyle Changes

Whatever your goals are let me help you with a holistic approach that is tailored to meet your personal needs.

Often when deciding to adopt a healthier lifestyle, people try to do much all at once and when they can’t achieve their goals are left feeling like they failed.  I can support you to identify specific and manageable goals to suit your situation and help you achieve small steps to big change.  Many people are unaware of how exercise, sleep, stress, and our own mindsets can impact our health goals, even with the best diet.

The key to long lasting behaviour change is choosing goals and targets that you can stick to even on your worst days. I can help you identify and implement these small changes that lead to big, and more importantly, long lasting results.  Making changes that will improve your life for the long-term not leave you feeling deprived for short term unsustainable results.

Metabolic Disorders

A healthy metabolism uses body fat to sustain your energy without the need to snack. If you struggle to stay focused, have low energy, and low mood you may not heave a healthy metabolism.   This can lead to weight gain and dysregulation of your hunger and fullness hormones. Some benefits of improved metabolic health are:

  • Improved mood & mental outlook
  • Improvement in joint pain & stiffness
  • Improved appetite control
  • Clearer skin
  • Increased libido
  • Reduced symptoms of bloating
  • Reduced symptoms of heartburn
  • Reduced symptoms of PMS
  • Improved health markers
  • Weight loss
  • Improved body composition
  • Less ‘brain fog’ & clearer thinking
  • Reduced sugar cravings
  • Increased energy levels

Diabetes Prevention / Reversal

1 in 3 people in the UK now have Metabolic Syndrome, which is also known as Pre-Diabetes, caused by insulin resistance.  Weight loss is recommended but the best way to reverse or prevent Type 2 diabetes is to reduce your circulating blood sugar.  Simply losing weight isn’t enough to improve your health.

Yvonne has successfully reduced HbA1c levels for many clients including one from 63 (type 2 diabetic) to 47 (almost out of pre-diabetic range). You can change your diet and reduce your diabetes risk without having to feel hungry or deprived.

Low Carb / Ketogenic Diet

Having completed a Professional Training in Low Carb / Ketogenic Nutrition and Treatment with Professor Tim Noakes, Yvonne can give scientific and balanced advice.  For some a very low carbohydrate diet can feel restrictive but for others it can have many benefits, such as –

  • Weight loss
  • Reduced appetite and cravings
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Improved cholesterol markers
  • Blood sugar control
  • Reduction in blood pressure
  • Improved heart disease markers
  • Positively linked with brain health
  • Hormonal balance – including PCOS
  • Positive links to improved migraines

Yvonne can help you formulate a diet that works for your circumstances and preferences if you’d like to benefit from the therapeutic effects of reduced carbohydrates.

Food Addiction / Emotional Eating

Yvonne is also a Certified Food Addiction Coach, and with her own experiences to draw upon, can help you find freedom from food addiction or emotional eating.

When you hear people say “Everything in Moderation” do you ever find yourself wondering why this doesn’t apply to you?  Not everyone can enjoy a little of what they like – this isn’t simply down to poor willpower.  From a young age food is often used to soothe, comfort, reward, bribe, distract – not just to satisfy hunger cues.  For this reason our brain has made an association between your emotions and food.  If you find yourself reaching for ‘comfort’ food when you’re feeling low, tired, sad, anxious or ‘reward’ food when you’ve achieved something or worked hard – this is why.

There is a complex relationship involving brain chemistry, hormones and habit involved with any emotional eating.  We  can work together to bypass willpower and work with your brain, mind and body.
